Biography

Rosanna is part of the activism team at Global Justice Now, focussing on organising the Youth Network. Before joining the organisation she volunteered at Latin American Women’s Rights Service as an assistant policy co-ordinator. She has also been part of different collectives in London such as The London Latinxs and the Migrant Connections Festival. Rosanna has also participated in social movements across the world from the student movement in Holland to the protests in Brazil against FIFA.

The past ten years of government policies have left young people in a dire predicament. Faced with a growing housing crisis, mountains of student debt, a lack of youth services and the worsening climate crisis, the choice of who to vote for in the upcoming general election on 12 December is undoubtedly a very important one for young people today.

Colonialism + capitalism = climate crisis

At Brighton’s fifth youth strike a colourful banner proclaiming ‘Colonialism + Capitalism = Climate Breakdown’ led the front of the march. Young people from across the city had gathered a few days earlier to design and paint the banner.

The far-right Brazilian candidate and the women’s movement fighting fascism

On 7 October millions of Brazilians across the world voted in the presidential elections - 46% of them voted for the far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro, dubbed ‘The Brazilian Trump’. In London I queued up for three hours, along with hundreds of other Brazilians living in the UK, to vote and fight against him.
