Multinational mining firms are suing Colombia to the tune of $13 billion. They are using ‘corporate courts’, which are written into trade deals such as the UK-Colombia investment treaty. These secretive, private tribunals protect the profits of overseas corporations at the expense of human rights and climate action.

In one such case, mining giant Glencore is suing Colombia for losses after the Wayuu Indigenous community won a ruling against the expansion of its massive Cerrejón coal mine, which had displaced thousands from their land and polluted their water.

But now Colombia is taking a stand against corporate courts, and it needs our help to scrap the UK-Colombia deal.

This A5 leaflet sets out our campaign to scrap the UK-Colombia investment treaty, and includes a link to our petition to the trade minister. To order printed copies, email [email protected]
