Responding to Ed Miliband’s comments that the UK will honour the pledge of £11.6 billion in climate aid, Izzie McIntosh, climate campaigner at Global Justice Now said:

This is a positive step that shows the UK is once again thinking about its international obligations to communities in the global south bearing the brunt of British emissions. The government will need to go further, however, if it wants to rebuild trust with the global south. Next on Ed Miliband’s to do list should be backing calls for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and working alongside the climate vulnerable countries spearheading this for a rapid and fair phase out globally.”
