Nick Dearden, director of Global Justice Now said:
As Israel intensifies its onslaught on Rafah – now the world’s largest camp for displaced people – Britain’s response is to keep selling arms and deepening trade ties with this genocidal government.
Our government should be doing all it can to end this massacre, and yet the Foreign Secretary is signing off weapons sales, while the Trade Minister reports the latest trade negotiations with Israel took place in late April, as if nothing was happening in the region.
Britain is complicit with Israel’s war crimes, but ordinary people across the country have not given their backing to this: we must continue to raise our voices. It’s time this government use its power to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire, suspend trade negotiations with Israel, and implement an arms embargo. Anything less is abetting and aiding an unfolding genocide.
