“By rolling over to Trump on tariffs, UK government is entering trade talks with hands tied”, campaigners say

Commenting on the UK Government’s response to Trump’s global tariffs on steel and aluminium, Nick Dearden, director of Global Justice Now said:

“By rolling over to Trump on tariffs, this government has shown that it is entering trade talks with both hands tied behind its back. This should concern all of us: in ongoing negotiations, Trump will use the tariff threat to undermine our ability to tax and regulate Big Tech, while weakening our public services and food standards. It’s time for this government to truly stand up for the public interest. The British public never voted for Donald Trump, Elon Musk or their deregulatory model, and they should not be allowed to impose their wish list on us.”
