We Rise
When: April 15, 2018
Hyde Park Book Club, 27-29 Headingley Lane, Leeds LS6 1BL
We face an age of massive political change. Racist nationalisms, pervasive gendered violence, environmental breakdown, corporate power and precarious jobs — the system we live in doesn’t work for the majority of us.
But, however little we hear about it in the mainstream media, social movements around the world are throwing down a powerful challenge to the status quo. From the cities leading the way in real transformative change, such as Barcelona and Jackson, Mississippi, to hunger strikers in the Yarl’s Wood detention centre, people are demanding change and creating it themselves.
If you want to explore alternatives to our current system, learn the skills to fight injustice here and now and meet other like-minded young people, join us at We Rise.
Please note that this event is part of our youth network programme and aimed at people under 30. Most of our events are for all ages, including our national gathering in York this June.
