Looking around the world today, it would be easy to despair at various seemingly unconnected injustices – whether it’s neo-colonial wars, or the havoc wreaked by climate change, which is felt disproportionately by the global south. While these crises may initially appear unconnected, at their core is corporate power, inequality and the dispossession of communities from their land and resources.

At We Rise we’ll hear from those on the frontlines of resistance in Uganda, where they are fighting the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) and the Landless Workers’ Movement (MST), the grassroots movement at the forefront of advocating for land reform and the rights of landless peasants in Brazil. We’ll also hear about the movement against shady corporate legal mechanisms deterring effective climate action and much more.

Speakers include:

🛢️❌ Diana Nabiruma, Anti-EACOP activist, Uganda
🌱 Rafael Costa, Brazilian academic and landless movement solidarity activist
🌐 Nick Dearden, Global Justice Now director
✊🏽 Hajar Ibrahim, Edinburgh Uni Palestine Society
🌟 Roza Salih, Migrant rights activist and SNP councillor

Also featuring:📓 Bustcard, radical zine collective
