The global pandemic, the escalating violence of the climate crisis and global vaccine apartheid are all further proof that the neo-colonial systems which dominate our world do not sustain life for the global majority. Yet all around the globe, social movements are resisting corporate power and a system that only benefits a few.
From Black Lives Matter to the climate justice movement, the last few years have seen many people organising to make another world possible. In India, farmers won their year-long battle against Modi’s free market, anti-farmer laws. In Argentina and now Colombia, feminist movements have won battles for abortion rights. And the election of Gabriel Boric has brought new hope for a more equal, greener and socially just Chile.
To learn more about how we can collectively dismantle the current system and create a fairer world, join the Global Justice Now youth network for We Rise. We’ll be making the most of being able to come together in the same space for a day of participatory discussions, creative and educational workshops, performances and more.
As Raymond Williams said: “to be truly radical is to make hope possible, rather than despair convincing”.
Travel subsidy policy:
Travel subsidies are available for those from outside London.
Global Justice Now will pay 50% of your fare, if your fare is £100 or less, after a £10 minimum personal contribution.
Subsidies are available on a first come first serve basis, so please book your tickets and request a subsidy as soon as you can. We also encourage people to use a rail card if you can. Where possible, we also ask that you take the cheaper travel route if you are able to. The lower we keep costs; the more people we can support!
Money will be refunded after the event, when we have more capacity. We will be able to refund you via bank transfers. You will need to send us your receipt and bank details (name, sort code + account number) by email.
Leelou will be in charge of organising travel subsidies, so contact them directly to send this information and if you have any questions 😊 firstname.lastname@example.org
