Until the Rulers Obey
When: April 21, 2015
6.30pm, Tuesday 21 April
Room 349, 3rd floor, Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU
Latin America today is full of the life and work of a multiplicity of social movements of an extraordinary energy and diversity. Their words have been collected by Clifton Ross and Marcy Rein in a new book, Until the Rulers Obey (PM Press), which is at once a journal of their travels and meetings across the continent, an exploration of the goals and innovative methods of the movements, a reader and political science source book and, above all, a testimony of those whose voices, in the words of Colombian commentator Mario Murillo, “should be heard until the rulers obey”.
Join Clifton Ross in conversation with Argentinian researcher Marcela López Levy and Grace Livingstone, author of books on Colombia and US policy in Latin America, as they discuss the dynamics and challenges of Latin America’s remarkable social movements.
Meeting organised by Latin America Bureau and Global Justice Now and sponsored by the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of London.
