Time to Act! Climate march, energy and trade justice bloc
When: March 7, 2015
Corporate control over our energy has been a disaster. Big corporations are making a killing while 1.3 billion are left with no access to electricity and millions more are unable to pay their extortionate fuel bills. And under the rule of big business we have been locked into fossil fuel dependency that is propelling us towards catastrophic climate change.
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) will only make this worse. The dodgy ‘trade’ deal is aiming to give corporations more power over our society by removing key regulation. That could mean US-style fracking laws in the UK, it could mean an end to restrictions of tar sands imports, and we could face enormous law suits by the Big Six if we attempted to take back control of our energy.
TTIP sets a dangerous global precedence of corporate control that could severely affect people fighting polluting coal mines and oil spills, oil spills and the effects of climate change.
Join us at the trade and energy justice bloc on the Time to Act climate march. We want energy justice not TTIP!
We need to take back power over our energy system. We want affordable, green energy under democratic control.
Join us in the Energy and Trade Justice: No TTIP Bloc. Meeting at 12.30pm, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, 7 March. We’ll be in the North East corner of the park.
