Stop TTIP: planning action in Edinburgh

Jan13

When: January 13, 2015

There is a growing movement of people in Scotland opposing TTIP – the EU-US trade deal, and corporate power grab. Last week, a Europe-wide petition against TTIP reached 1 million signatures. More than 180,000 of those were from the UK.  Another petition here in Scotland, calling on the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to oppose TTIP, has already gained 25,000 signatures.

We keep being asked ‘what else can I do about TTIP?’ So we thought we’d organise a meeting for local people in Edinburgh to get together and come up with ideas of things we can do together, or that people can take away and do themselves.  Please do join us if you’d be interested in finding out more. The meeting will be on Tuesday 13 January from 7.30pm at our office: Thorn House, 5 Rose Street Edinburgh EH2 2PR.

Let us know you are coming on the Facebook event page – although if you don’t use Facebook it is fine just to turn up on the night.

There is so much potential for campaigning in 2015, with an ongoing Scottish Parliament inquiry into TTIP, the second round of trade talks in February, and the general elections coming up in May.

We hope you can make it on 13 January.
