Scottish Trade Justice Teach in

Scottish Trade Justice Teach in

Sep30

When: September 30, 2020

7.30pm-9pm

Wednesday 30 September

Knowledge is power: as campaigners, we need to be able to argue against the many toxic aspects to the UK-US trade deal negotiated behind closed doors. We’ve heard about the threats to our NHS and food standards – but there are more threats to uncover. Discover some of the lesser known – but equally concerning – dangers that a trade deal presents at this trade justice teach-in for Scottish activists.

Hear from:

  • Jean Blaylock, Global Justice Now’s trade campaigner will talk about the impact on our ability to tackle climate change in Scotland and the UK.
  • Chloe Alexander, trade campaigner at CHEMTrust will talk about the lowering of safety standards for chemicals and how that might affect cosmetics and many other household items.
  • Matthew Rice, Scotland director of the Open Rights Group will talk about threats to our privacy from digital technology and how the threat might increase with a UK-US trade deal.

This webinar is for activists in Scotland who are currently campaigning, or keen to be campaigning against a US-UK trade deal locally. Each speaker will talk for around 10 minutes and then we will open up the (virtual) floor to questions and answers.

Sign up to book your space on the webinar and we will send you the zoom link.
