Migration Gathering ft. Precarious Trajectories film screening & Through Refugees eyes’ photo exhibition
When: May 6, 2017
With the issue of migration more prevalent than ever today, we believe that we need to be not only discussing it but collectively fighting the growing racism and xenophobia. This event will bring together organisations and individuals interested in fighting for migrant rights to network, be challenged and inspired to continue campaigning in Scotland. We need the world to see migrants as people and not statistics or burdens.
Throughout the afternoon there will be a chance to visit organisations stalls to find out what they’re currently doing and how you could work together, make banners and view the ‘Through Refugee eyes’ photo exhibition.
The event runs from 13:00- 16:40 and you’re welcome to turn up at any time throughout this free event however, there will be a couple of things happening at fixed times:
14:20 – 15:30 there will be group discussions on what else can be done in Scotland to tackle this issue leading to suggestions of asks for the Scottish Government.
16:05 – 16:40 Precarious Trajectories film screening
This event is a space for collective learning, bringing together people who are interested in the issue and so we can forge ahead with stopping the growing racism and hate which is plaguing our society.

The ‘Through Refugees Eyes’ photo exhibition is a collection of stories through photos started by Abdulazez Dukhan. Powerful, beautiful and chilling these photos are an insight into life on the camps in Calais and beyond, and what people there endure. It is a way for them to share their stories with you.
The short film Precarious Trajectories is not yet publicly launched but is an excellent documentary about the difficult journeys that people have been making in search for a new, safer home in Europe. Here’s a short description of the film and where it has come from: “Refugees and migrants are undertaking perilous and difficult journeys on an unprecedented scale. The story of every person who makes the momentous decision to leave their homes, to flee via land or sea, is different, and they all have a difficult journey ahead. A group of researchers and film makers have created a unique documentary to give voice, through personal testimonies and forensic analysis, to those migrating people.”
