TTIP: What it is and why we need to stop it

Feb25

When: February 25, 2015

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a EU-US trade deal and corporate power grab that threatens democracies across Europe.

The deal includes plans to ‘harmonise’ laws between the two superpowers which will likely weaken hard-won legislation on our environment, food and workers’ rights, and threaten our public services. Plans for corporate courts (Investor-State-Dispute-Settlement) allowing big business to sue governments for any new laws that might affect their profits, bypassing national court systems, has horrified citizens across Europe. A movement to stop the trade deal is growing across the continent.

Come and hear more about TTIP with speakers from Global Justice Now and Dundee Trades Union Congress, and then help plan how we grow a movement in Dundee and beyond, to stop TTIP.
