COP27 Reportback and Christmas Social
When: 7:00 pm, December 9, 2022
Where: Dragon Hall, 17 Stukeley St, London, WC2B 5LT
To the surprise of many, the UN climate talks finished by agreeing to set up a ‘loss and damage’ fund to help global south countries deal with the impacts of climate change – a hard-fought victory. But at the same time, there was little progress on actually phasing out fossil fuels. Where does that leave us in the fight for climate justice?
Join Dorothy Guerrero, head of policy at Global Justice Now for a reportback from the COP27 summit in Egypt, along with Cleodie Rickard, a Global Justice Now campaigner on the Energy Charter Treaty who also attended the youth climate gathering in Tunisia in the run up to COP.
After the meeting we will be providing (free) drinks and festive snacks and there will be time to meet Global Justice Now staff and local group members and chat informally.
