Beats Beyond Borders

Feb21

When: 12:00 am, February 21, 2015

Join us for a night of live music, DJs and spoken word to celebrate the fight for justice across the world. Headliners Laid Blak are supported by spoken word from Mr Gee, the groundbreaking new Palestinian band 47Soul and DJs from Movimientos.

Tickets are £8/£5 concessions and can be bought here: http://www.richmix.org.uk/whats-on/event/take-back-our-world-afterparty/

Laid Blak emerged from Bristol’s jungle scene to become one of the UK’s premier reggae heavyweights, and have supported acts such as John Legend, Julian Marley and Massive Attack.

47 Soul unites Palestinian artists from different regions, spanning the divides from Amman to the Galilee, the Golan Heights to Ramallah. On top of the beats that have been bumping in the Middle East for centuries, 47Soul hypes it up with analog synthesizers, hypnotic guitar lines, and shattering verses from the four singers.

Mr Gee is an award-winning spoken word artist and musician. At the cutting edge of the spoken word scene in the UK, Mr Gee has helped inmates use poetry to explore prison life, created a smash-hit West End music Into the Hoods, and supports Russell Brand on his UK stand up tours.

Movimientos are a London-based collective who are famed for their heady brew of latin, tropical and globalista buenas ondas.

This is the afterparty for the activist conference Take Back Our World. You can join the Facebook event here.
