About the job

The stark inequality over who gets Covid-19 vaccines has shocked the world. While countries like our own expect to be fully vaccinated by the end of the year, others are being vaccinated so slowly that even frontline health workers remain unprotected.

At the heart of this inequality is a system which puts profits ahead of human life. The knowledge behind the vaccines should be treated as a public good, but instead is monopolised by big business, limiting production and perpetuating a ‘vaccine apartheid’. We are campaigning to change that.

We’re looking for a campaign lead who can take this work to the next level: staying on top of fast moving events, spotting campaign opportunities, developing our policy, and helping organise campaign actions and develop media interest.

The People’s Vaccine is currently our highest profile campaign, where real change is possible. We’re seeking an excellent communicator who can combine an eye for detail and strategic insight, with the ability to convey what is often technical policy in easy-to-understand language.

The successful applicant will be part of a global coalition, coordinating work in the UK and beyond. The day-to-day work will be varied and fast-paced, from lobbying politicians and analysing developments, to appearing on national broadcast media and leading protests.

You will have substantial experience of running campaigns and developing policy; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to work with people from different organisations and different countries; and a strong commitment to Global Justice Now’s mission.

If you are interested in the post and believe you meet our requirements, we would really like to hear from you.

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity, but as members of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups are currently under-represented in the organisation we particularly encourage applications from BAME candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone.

We offer 26 days holiday a year (pro-rata for part-time) and flexible working.

This post is based in our London or Edinburgh office. At present most staff are working from home, and we expect continuing high levels of home working in future.

Global Justice Now

Global Justice Now is a fast-paced campaign organisation working to fundamentally change the global economic system and create a world where people are placed before profit. We stand in solidarity with those at the sharp end of the global economy: communities across the global South who suffer impoverishment, exploitation and oppression as a result of rules and systems created here in the global North.
