CETA: TTIP's ugly brother

This is a guide to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada.

Millions have signed a petition calling on the EU to stop negotiations on TTIP (the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) and CETA. While there is growing public awareness about the timetable and content of the TTIP negotiations, CETA is on the verge of being ratified.

But it's not receiving the scrutiny or attention it deserves.

With the uncertainty that a possible Brexit brings, this month's brief update looks only at CETA. We don't yet know how the negotiations of mega trade deals like TTIP and TiSA will affect Scotland - but this should become clearer over the coming months. What is more certain is that CETA will affect us, and there is still a chance to stop this Canada-EU trade deal. The next three months will be crucial for the campaign.
